Ugh, I just spent several hours this morning fighting with my computer. It seems like it's acting up again, grrr. I so don't want to re-format it, especially since it's only been a few months since I've done it. Seriously, I'm considering buying a new one if it gives me headaches again. Sigh.
Aside from that though, I've been feeling much better reading-wise and book-wise. My reading has definitively picked up this week, as I read the whole Codex Alera series by Jim Butcher - that is 6 books! Plus, there are some good new releases coming up :) Yes, feeling pretty good :)
Here is what I got this week:
Bayou Moon by Ilona Andrews - I really fell in love with Ilona Andrews' Kate Daniels series. The last few books have been excellent. This is Ms Andrews other series, The Edge series. I thought On The Edge was okay... but I have high hopes for Bayou Moon, especially after Leslie's review :)
Venom by Jennifer Estep - Venom is the third book in the An Elemental Assassins series, which I thought at the beginning of the year had a lot of potential to become best new series of the year. So, are you wondering why I got this? :P
And that's it for this week. Amazing right? So far, I've only bought 7 books this month... Seven only! Of course, the month is not over yet and I could go crazy... but I don't think it's going to happen. I guess we'll find out next week :)
What about you guys? Got anything good this week? :P

Oh, so glad to hear you enjoyed the Codex Alera. I keep thinking I'll try it since I love the Dresden Files so much, but then worry it's too hard core military fantasy for me.
ReplyDeleteReading Bayou Moon right now. So far, so good! :-)
Lot's of great books being released this week, isn't there?
I want both those books. I can't wait to get my hands on them!
ReplyDeleteWow - only 7 and the months almost over. That might be a record for you. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't think I bought any this week. I'm trying to cut back on buying since Christmas is coming soon. Need $$ for gifts. :D
I did get a bunch of books from the library this week so I have plenty to read.
Hope you like the Andrews!
This has been a slow book-buying month. Which is good AND bad. LOL
ReplyDeleteOhh I haven't read any Andrews but I've heard they're really good!
ReplyDeleteI went to the Friends of the Library book sale this weekend. Saturday I bough 18+ books for under $5. Then on Suday I got an entire bag full of books for $3!!!! Most of the ones I bought on Saturday were YA and I gave them to my best friend for her high school classroom library. Although I kept about 5 books. There were such great books and so cheap I couldn't leave them behind but I didn't really want them all so I told my friend to tell her class (Early)"Merry Christmas" for me, I hope they enjoy them!
It's one of the first library book sales I've been to...it certianly won't be my last!!!!!
Renee - I think you would enjoy it Renee :P It becomes much more military fantasy starting from book #3, but still, it's not too hard core.
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear about Bayou Moon!
I know, this week is the week of the month :P
Tabitha - One more day and you'll get them! :P
Leslie - I know!! LOL, it might just be! :) but yeah, we'll see with the rest of this week... there were a few books that slipped through my radar, so I just might pick them up now.
Nod nod, about Christmas. In my family though, we haven't really celebrate Christmas in the past two years, so... and you have a great library, so it's a good option :P
I'll let you know about the Andrews!
Ames - LOL, good because we save money... bad because OMG, I'm so bored! It's been a bit hard this month, reading-wise I thought.
Mollie - Wow Mollie! I'm so jealous!! Those are some great deals you got!!! LOL and I can't believe it was your first library sale!!! :P
Ooooh, Bayou Moon! I have to get it... I'm behind on my purchases.
ReplyDeleteMadly jealous you have Bayou Moon - I WANT.
ReplyDeleteAnd all six Codex Alera books in one go? Wow. I think I prefer the Dresden books overall, but I've enjoyed that series.
Li
Hilcia - Not surprising since you've been gone all week :P
ReplyDeleteLi - LOL. You can get it tomorrow, or actually at this time, it's NOW already where you live :P
Yep, read them in one go :) I was in the mood. I'm with you, I do enjoy Dresden better, but this was definitively a good series as well :) Which one did you like best? I have to say, I really liked Cursor's Fury and Captain's Fury :)
Oh gosh, hard to say which was my favourite Alera book - I thought they were all pretty consistent. I still think his romances need something *more*, but very entertaining reads nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteLi
Li - The romance could have been much better, indeed... however, from a male prospective and the gradual evolution of it, I think it was well handled.
ReplyDeleteI thought the first two were the weakest. Starting from Cursor, they were much better :P
LOL, don't know how I could overlook this. :) All six Codex Alera books? Now I'm jealous. *g* I still need to get book #5 and I'm waiting for the 6th to be published in November. Glad to hear you liked the series okay. :)
ReplyDeleteAndrews and Estep - urban fantasy? Paranormal? I'm so out of it! LOL
Enjoy your new books. :)
Taja - Yeah, all 6. Princep's and First Lord's were library books though. By the time you finish book #5, book #6 should be out, right? :P
ReplyDeleteAndrews and Estep are both urban fantasy :P
Oh wow. Venom is the THIRD book in that series already?!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!
Christine - Yep, third book already :) I'm happy thought. 3 out this year and 2 next year and the Gin story-arc is done :P
