6th Blogiversary!

Yes, you've read the title right. It's my 6th Blogiversary!! Wooohooo! Well actually, I'm a few days late ^_^; I always thought it was the 26th, but turns out it's really the 20th. I'll try to remember it for next year LOL. In any case, it only means I've had this blog for more than 6 years :) Definitively something worth to celebrate! It's funny because I just re-read my first post ever and in it, I mention I didn't know how long I'd be blogging. Now, I can't imagine my life without it and I know that as long as I'll be reading, I'll be blogging :)

Seriously, these past 6 years have been amazing! It has brought so much to me. When I started, I never imagined meeting authors, going to books conventions or even receiving ARCs. The experiences and the books are great, but more important is the friends I've made!! People who share my passion, whom I can discuss with. Really, I could not imagine my life without my blogger friends! You've made my life so much richer! And for that, I am so very grateful :)

So to celebrate my 6th Blogiversary, I've decided to host a giveaway! Yay! There is three parts to the giveaway :) First, there are three autographed books that I've got at last year's RWA.

Second is your choice of book among four new releases in July that I am soooo looking forward to :) It can be either print or ebook.

And finally, an e-book gift certificate of 15$ at your choice of e-store :)

The rules to the giveaway are simple :) The giveaway is open to everyone from everywhere. Just leave a comment before noon (Eastern time) this Saturday (June 30). In you comment, please specify which draw you'd like to be in: the autographed books, the book of your choice, the gift certificate or all of them :) Also, make sure that I have your email address so I can contact you. And voila!

Good luck everyone!

Interesting giveaways... and interesting blogs!?

Happy Friday everyone! In a few hours, the week-end will start :D Woohoo!! Seriously, I can't wait LOL. The workload has been pretty decent recently, but I feel like a machine... Doing the same over and over with a scary efficiency ^_^;

I've just finished The Grimrose Path by Rob Thurman. Great book, but it took me nearly a week to read. I just don't get why Ms Thurman's books always take me time to read ^_^; Anyway, have yet to pick up my next read. Any recommendation?

Okay, enough with the chit-chat :) I've actually wanted to draw your attention to two giveaways taking place right at this moment :)

First, Tabitha from Tabz Book Blog — just another readeraholic... just had her first blogniversary! Woohoo, congrats Tabz!! And as celebration, she's having a giveaway :) Take a look, there's some good books in there :) Of course, you should also take a look at her blog. She hasn't blogged much recently, but I'm hoping that work will slow down and wedding madness will fade eventually and she'll be back with us! :)

Second, Mollie from Book Fare Delights is also having a giveaway :) Different circumstances though. Mollie had the chance of going to Jennifer Crusie's signing and thought of us! She has one signed copy of Maybe This Time to giveaway! How cool is that? I'm still waiting for Maybe This Time to arrive in-store, ugh. However, I'm happy that she enjoyed it :)

I was going to start another post for this, but why not combine them, right? Today's discussion topic is:
What are you looking for in a blog?

Every once in a while, I go out there in the vast and immense place that is blogland and I look for new blogs to follow. I visit a few, add a few to my sidebars and my feeds and sometimes, me and these new blogs click and other time, we don't. I'm actually very picky when it comes to finding new blogs. I'm looking for blogs which are updated frequently, have a nice design/layout (actually, the most important for me is your post area. I hate it when it's too narrow ^_^; ) and whose owner reply to comments that are left. Then of course, afterward, it comes down the blogger's personality, but that takes time to find out. What about you? What are you looking for?

Hello everyone! How have you been all?

Yeah, I've been a bit quiet this week ^_^; LOL, I think that last week's blogging as taken away all my blogging mojo. However, I hope to be back this week with some reviews :D Crossing my fingers.

I just want to remind everyone that today is the last day for my Percy Jackson and the Olympians contest. You have till midnight (EST) to participate :)

Today, I'll be going out to do some book shopping, so stay tuned to see my haul :) By the way, for Canadians, today is Customer appreciation day at Chapters/Indigo/Coles. If you are a I-rewards member, you get 20% off :) Aside from book shopping, I'll be watching the Olympics of course :)

Contest: Percy Jackson and The Olympians!

I had great fun blogging about this series during the whole week, not only reviewing the books, but commenting on the upcoming movie :D I hope you enjoyed it as well... and I thought it was only fitting to end this with a contest LOL.

It's very simple, just leave a comment with which novel from the Percy Jackson and The Olympians series you'd like to get :D This gives the chance to people who have already start the series to participate as well :D if you've already read the whole series, what about the companion book?

You have a week to enter the contest, i.e. till 11.59PM on February 20. I'll draw and announce the winner on February 21 :D

Good luck!!

Re-Read Challenge: December Winner :)

LOL, I don't feel like blabbing too much for this month.

I'm quite happy with the turn out this month, 7 reviews :) The books were varied as well: contemporary, historical, romantic suspense and young adult... That's good :) I know there were some bloggers who did manage to re-read their book, but not write a review. As long as you've done your re-read, that's good no? You go back to rediscover loved books... the review is just the cherry on top of the sundae :)

It's been a very fun year hosting the Re-Read Challenge... and that's why I'll continue in 2010. I hope old participants will continue and new participants will join :)

So the last winner of the Re-Read Challenge 2009 is...

TAJA!!!

Out of the 7 entries I got, excluding me, Taja was the only one who didn't win previously. I think it's only fair that she is the one getting the 10$ gift certificate!! Please contact me Taja for your prize... and I don't care that you live in Europe, so I don't want to hear any arguments :)

Congrats Taja and thank you to all the bloggers who participated!!

Re-Read Challenge: November Winner :)

So the Re-Read challenge for November came to an end yesterday. Of course, if you have a review of a re-read that you'd like to share with us, please feel free :D

I was actually surprised at the turn-out :) 10 bloggers made it this month, wooohooo! :) And the variety of re-read is quite interesting.

One more entry, peeps! :) Let's keep it up!

For now though, let me announce the winner...

RENEE!!!

Congratulations!! Please e-mail me and let me know from which store you would like your gift certificate to be from!! :)

Re-Read Challenge: October Winner :)

All right, so this month, only 5 persons completed the Re-Read challenge :)

I think that all 5 entries were very interesting and varied. We have romantic suspense, historical, paranormal romance and contemporary romance... so a bit of everything, right :D The most noticeable this month is me and Kristie, re-reading the same books of the In Death series by J.D. Robb. I mean, out of 30something books, the odds that we picked up the same books LOL :) Of course, if it was 3/3 or 4/4, it'd have even been weirder, right? :) For now though, let's just say coincidence :)

Aside from me, the 4 bloggers who completed the challenge this month are also winners for the previous months: Isabel for April, Kristie for May, Tracy for June and most recently, Ames for August. So let see out of these four ladies whose luck is good :D

And the winner this month is....

ISABEL!!!

Congrats Isabel! :D LOL, you know what to do right? :)

ps - for those who I own an email, I'll get to you very soon! My sister has been hi-jacking my computer at home for her lab report and I've been a bit too busy at work :( But I'll get back to you! Haven't forgotten!

As for monthly reads list, it is coming soon :D

Re-Read Challenge: September Winner!!

Sooooo sorry, this post is late coming up.

It's been kind of crazy here. Lots of running around. I'm feeling better, although the past 2 or 3 days were painful. I'm knocking on wood and crossing my fingers that the sinus infection has cleared. The pressure on my cheekbones is mostly gone, but my teeth still ache from time to time - so I now wonder if it was due to sinus infection or not.... and one of my ears is popping from time to time too. I'm kind of extremely nervous because I'm supposed to fly later this week. I guess I'll have to wait till tomorrow to be sure.

I have a lot of stuff to blog about. Hopefully, I'll get around to it this week :D So stay tuned!!

So this month, 7 persons completed the challenge! :D I know many that did the re-read, but did not write the review... Reviewing is definitively the hardest part in this challenge, right? :) I have to admit, I wasn't expecting a high turn out since blogland has been extremely quiet... So I'm happy with seven. The fun part though is that these reads are very diverse... you have a category romance, fantasy, paranormal romance, historical, Civil war era, contemporary... and even the years are quite different. Have to say, I love this challenge! :) The end of the year is coming and I'm wondering if we should continue the challenge next year... Hmmm.

Ah, but I'll stop thinking and talking...and announce who's the winner this month...

LESLIE!!!

Woohooo, congrats Leslie!! Please e-mail me (you know my address) to let me know from which store you'd like the gift certificate :D

Yay! :)

Re-Read Challenge: August Winner :)

It's Wednesday already. My "vacation" at work is about to be over... Once the boss is back next week, it's definitively going to be very busy... That's why I'm considering making this week-end extra long and take Friday off. Hmmm, sounds extremely good. My plan is to spend the week-end cleaning my room (meh, not very exciting)... I need to weed out clothes that don't fit anymore T_T Also, I want to finish my excel spreadsheet - I'm almost there. Almost, so that would be fun.

Sigh, I need to shop for a dress. Unfortunately, the dress I bought for Holly's wedding doesn't fit anymore T_T Sad, I know. I tried losing weight this summer, but yeah, I don't have much will power :( Haven't been to the gym for the past two months... Although lately, I have a good reason: my ankle. It's better, but it still hurts a little and tires very fast. Also, the past two days, I haven't been feeling great :( Meh... my back hurts... It seems I'm not holding myself straight or something... Hopefully, it's just because I slept the wrong way or something.

Okay, I'll stop whining... This is supposed to be more cheerful, because I'm announcing the winner of this month!! :) It is...

AMES!!!

Woohoo, congrats Ames :) Let me know from which bookstore you want your 10$ gift certificate :)

Just to recap a little bit the challenge this month... LOL, so 10 persons made it this month :) Is it me or there's less and less people each month? :) Although blogland is really quiet lately and it's the end of the summer, so this might be a factor. I guess I'll find out next month, right?

No same book or author re-read this month... but I did carry out the trend this month by re-reading Linda Howard :) I think that so far, she's the author who's been re-read the most :) We'll see if the trend will continue next month; maybe I'll have inspire some people :D

Re-Read Challenge: July Winner :)

Good morning everyone!! :)

So this month, only 9 persons made it for the Re-Read Challenge :) Guess that real life, summer time and vacation had kept everyone busy :) Or at least, interfere with the usual activities :P As I told many participants, this challenge is just for fun :) No pressure, so don't feel bad if you didn't make it.

Although we have a small number of entries, it's fun to note that two persons re-read books by Loretta Chase. Hmmm, I wonder if my review of Don't Tempt Me influenced them :P Although, I think it's more of a coincidence, since my review only went up on Wednesday ^_^; Another name that jumps out of the list is Linda Howard. It seems that many participants have chosen her books are entries for the challenge. So far, she's been featured in 4 out of 7 months. Good numbers no? I also know that Re-read Challenge entries have prompted some to try her out :) I'm glad :)

And now, time to announce this month's winner....

LORI!!!

Congrats Lori :D Email me when you have time... or I'll email you!! LOL :)

Re-Read Challenge: June Winner :)

Okie dokie, this post is going to be short and sweet :)

13 persons have completed the challenge this month. Or at least, 13 whom I know about :) That's pretty good in my opinion, given that we're halfway through the year and RL seems to be a big factor once the sun starts to shine really hard :) As usual, it's quite varied this month and no author or book stand out.

LOL, I said short, so I'll cut the chase :) The winner this month is

TRACY!!!

Congrats Tracy! :) You have my email address, so just let me know from which bookstore you want your 10$ gift certificate from :)

Re-Read Challenge: May Winner :)

LOL, I gotta say that yesterday morning, I was a bit worried because they were about 5 bloggers who seemed to have completed the challenge ^_^; but in the end, we had a very decent turn-out: 15 reviews are up! :) I'll take it, I think it's a very good number :)

Contemporary and historical romances seem to dominate the list this month, actually I think that half of the reviews were historicals and the other genres were left to pick up the crumbs :P The author of this month is Judith McNaught who got three reviews, mine included. Funny coincidence, no?

All right, so enough babbling :)

The winner this month is:

KRISTIE!!!

Congratulation Kristie!! I'll give you your prize next week when we meet :P (This was absolutely not set-up! Total coincidence, but a happy one :P)

Saturday, May 02, 2009

Re-Read Challenge: April Winner :)

Let see, this month, we had 14 entries :) It is lower than the previous months, but I guess that's to be expected :) These kind of challenges lose participants as we go along... Also, blogland has been really quiet. Hopefully, next month, there'll be more entries :)

So this month's winner is...

ISABEL

Congrats Isabel! E-mail me (well you have my email address already :P) to let me know which store you want the 10$ gift certificate from :)

I hope you guys are still having fun with the challenge :) I know that my list of TBB books is growing each month, which is fun :)

Re-Read Challenge: March Winner :)

Phew!!! Today was a busy, busy day... My supervisor asked my co-worker and me to translate something... Normally, it wouldn't be a problem. Except this was like a scientific overview. Blah. All my scientific background is in English, so it was much harder.

Anyway, fun time! The draw for the 10$ gift certificate! So this month, 18 persons completed the challenge!! Wooohooo!!! True, it's a decrease of entry compared to January and February, but given blogland's activity in the past few weeks, I say it's good enough :) I think everyone was affected by the weather. I guess we're all ready for nice, warm and sunny weather right?

This month, no real author really stood out. Well Nikki read Sherrilyn Kenyon and Amy C, Kinley MacGregor... so you could say that Ms Kenyon "stood" out... kind of :P Otherwise, it was very interesting and varied this month :)

So the winner is...

SENECA!

Woohoo :) LOL, you know my email address :) Just let me know what store you want the gift certificate for :)

Now, off to work on my montly reads list...

Tuesday, March 03, 2009

Re-Read Challenge: February Winner :)

We're now in March, time to round up things :)

So, what's the number you're asking? Well, 23 participants had completed the challenge! Yay! That's two persons less compared to January, but since the month was shorter, I think it's very good :)

What stood out this month is that two bloggers chose the same book for their challenge entry: Open Season by Linda Howard :) In addition, there were two books by J.R. Ward as well, Dark Lover and Eternal Lover.

What's been fun about the challenge so far is the diversity of the re-reads. You have a bit of everything, ranging from historicals to urban fantasy, as well as sci-fi and erotica. Fun, fun stuff :)

So, what everyone has been waiting for... the winner for this month's 10$ gift certificate :) And the lucky gal is...

ZEEK

Congrats! You can email me at natuschan @ gmail . com (without the spaces) and let me know which bookstore you'd like the gift certificate for :)

Already, I can't wait till the end of March! Hope everyone is having as much fun as me :D
