Hauling Sunday XXXIX

I hope everyone had a very nice week-end! Me, it was the week-end from hell :( This Wednesday, I have a 7 minutes presentation and I had to work on it the whole week-end. Even had to go to the lab, because my boss will not be in for the next two days. Ugh, nothing worst than having to go to work during the week-end, really :( As a result, not only am I tired (because I waited till the last minute to work on the presentation), but my reading has suffered greatly as well. I don't think it'll recover till after the presentation :( Luckily, beginning of the month was great.

All right, all right. The whole week-end wasn't too bad LOL. I did find a new manga that I'm really enjoying. It's called Bartender and it's about, well, a bartender LOL. Seriously, mangaka can make everything interesting. I've also started watching TVB new series, Relic of an Emissary. Yes!!! Finally some decent fighting scenes!!! It's really cool to watch, because it's really about the choreography of the moves. I wished they'd have taken out the special effects completely, but at least, they've kept it to a minimum. The costumes are okay, looks a bit too fake, and the story is quite interesting :)

What about you?

On the book buying front, I was once again a good girl. Okay, not totally true. I did only get one book...

LOL, I don't need to tell you why I got this, right? :) The only thing is I had already pre-ordered a copy online... but it didn't arrive on Tuesday and for some reasons, I was really, really, really in the mood to read Chasing Fire... so I bought a copy at the store ^_^; Yeah, I know, I have absolutely no patience... but hey, it was kind of justified, since I finish reading Chasing Fire before my pre-ordered copy arrived on Friday. In any case, I was a good girl and did go and return the pre-ordered copy...

Totally me, right? LOL. Just because I've been through all this trouble, expect my review for Chasing Fire this week! :)

  1. Oh, lol! You bought the same book twice. I've done that before too. :)

I received this book on Tuesday when it released, but hmm... read the beginning of it and just didn't feel like reading it? So, it's still sitting on my coffee table. O_o Maybe this upcoming week. Looking forward to reading your review!

  2. Hilcia - Yeah. That's why I don't like to pre-order books... cos I'm impatient!

Really? Maybe it's the "I was looking forward to it too much" syndrome. How far did you get in?

  3. I bought the ebook the Tuesday it came out, but just started today. So far so good...

  4. Okay, my weekend doesn't look so bad now. Sorry yours was filled with work stuff. But I'll bet your presentation will be awesome!

Only one book? Definitely an off week for you. You sure did read it fast. I'm hoping that's a good sign since I got it last week too. :)

  5. I finally finished this book. I liked it but I think you enjoyed it way more than I did. :)

  6. Nath, I think you're right. I only read the first chapter. But, I'll get back to it this week, I'm sure of it. :)

  7. Mariana - Glad you're enjoying. I did think of buying it as an ebook, but I don't know. I've never read such a long book on e-reader, should probably try some day LOL.

    Leslie - How was your week-end? What happened? I'm glad my week-end made you feel better. Sigh, the presentation... I feel "whatever" about it ^_^;

    I enjoyed it :) It's NR. Not a wowzer, but good :)

Tabitha - LOL, guess we'll see when I review it :)

Hilcia - nod nod. Hopefully, it picks up for you Hils!

  8. One book - I am super impressed! And an excellent book at that. I have been tempted to buy a book twice - if I have pre-ordered it and then seen it in a shop but so far I have managed to avoid this.

I am going to have to go on a book buying ban soon so I can have weeks like yours and read a few from my tbr pile.

Good luck with the presenation tomorrow.

  9. Sally - LOL, turns out it's two books ^_^; but hey, that's not too much!! And true, a good book :)

You're good. I probably could have waited, but I don't know... it really was that book I wanted to read at that exact moment. So yeah.

Good luck on your book-buying ban, Sally! Those are HARD!!!
