Hauling Sunday XXXVIII

Lucky for me that I didn't have many plans for this week-end, because LOL, didn't do anything ^_^; Well I did watch curling and there was a real exciting game. My sister and I were rooting for Norway! But they lost, sigh :( Ah well, more curling today... although I don't know, the outcome seems a bit predictable. Also, I've been on a Big Bang Theory marathon. For those who do not watch this show, seriously, you're missing something good! Oh, and I did find a TVB series to watch which is good since I don't know what I'm going to do after curling is done :(

I did add a bunch of older books I've read into Goodreads. So the week-end was somewhat productive-ish LOL. As for reading-wise, well I've been in a mood of re-reading, so still haven't picked up The Gathering yet, but there is time still :)

Book-buying-wise, I was also a pretty good girl. Only went to the bookstore once - actually, twice, but only bought one book. Of course, it doesn't mean anything since now, you can buy books from home LOL. Here is what I got:

Deadly Lies by Cynthia Eden - I wasn't too sure about this book. I read the first book, Deadly Fears, of the trilogy and liked it enough... However, the heroine of Deadly Lies has suffered a big trauma in Deadly Fears and I was afraid I wouldn't like her ^_^; However, Tabitha's review convinced me to give the book a try :)

The Last Goodbye by Sarah Mayberry - Another book I've been hesitating about, just because I don't seem to hit it with Ms Mayberry as everyone does. However, since I've decided to buy Harlequin category romances as e-books, it's much easier to cave LOL. This time, it's Hils who convinced me... I'm so easy LOL.

The Gathering by Kelley Armstrong - LOL, no explanations really needed, right? I really enjoy Ms Armstrong's writing and this is the start of her new YA trilogy. I just wished she could release more than one in the year.

Backstage Pass by Olivia Cunning - This was a free download over at Kobo's. Favorable reviews for Ms Cunning's second book, Rock Hard, have been floating around blogland, so getting Backstage Pass for free was really a no-brainer :P

There you go, my new books? What about you? What's new on your selves? And anything that I should be rushing to the bookstore to get? :P

  1. Oh good buys, Nath. I love just loading those ebooks. So easy, lol!

    I bought quite a few books this week. Finally got my March reads and a few of my early April reads.

    I bought (and read) The Sweetest Thing by Shalvis, It Happened One Season Anthology, Children of Scarabaeus by Sarah Creasy, Slow Dancing on Price's Pier by Lisa Dale, Maisie Dobbs by Winspear which I'm reading at the moment.

    In my TBR now... A Lesson in Secrets by Winspear, downloaded, Texas Blue by Jodi Thomas, Backstage Pass by Olivia Cunning, Truth and Consequences: Hearts of the South, Touched by an Alien by Gini Koch, and pre-ordered Chasing Fire by Nora Roberts! Phewwww, do you think that's enough for one week? LOLOL!

  2. Ooops, forgot A Cottage by the Sea, by Ciji Ware, another free download that Leslie featured on her blog. :) And The Demon's Librarian by Lilith Saintcrow. :D

  3. I'm easy too, I picked up Texas Glory after I read your review. Lol.

    I'm still waiting for Amazon to notify me about my copy of The Gathering. This is why I don't like to pre-order because I would get the book days, weeks, after the release date. What's the point then of pre-ordering?

    I'm currently reading Kiss Me, Kill Me by Allison Brennan -- it's the 2nd book in her Lucy Kincaid series. It's an okay read so far. I need something more to perk up my reading mood, like, now.

    Hope you enjoy the Mayberry book! I also downloaded Backstage Pass but not sure when I will crack that book open.

  4. Hilcia - LOL, I'm starting to understand why everyone loves the convenience of ebooks :)

    Wow, Hils, really great haul!! You must be so happy LOL. While I buy a lot of books and I've had big hauls in the past, I realized that I like to have them as small hauls... Like 3-4 books... because I'm really into reading my new books... If I buy too many, then a lot of them end in the TBR pile...

    I'm looking forward to your review of the Lisa Dale book. I really need to read something by her.

    I pre-ordered the NR too. Can't wait for it!! And ohhh, Texas Blue. Hmmmm, should I or should I not? Or perhaps I should just wait ^_^;

    Tabitha - I know, but if you don't have many bookstores around you and if they don't put the books on the shelves promptly. I know that The Gathering had strict release date. Also, the point of pre-orders for me is to save money, especially on trade-size and hardcovers ^_^;

    Hmmm, I read Ms Brennan before and meh. Didn't work for me.

    LOL, it's the same for me with Backstage Pass.

  5. YAY!! The Gathering!
    Can't wait for your review of that one, and I too wish she released more than one of those a year!!

    But oh well, I hope it's awesome.

  6. Good selection :) I frequent the Kindle store to see what they have new that is free. I grabbed Backstage Pass and the Ciji Ware one as well. I read Backstage Pass today. I enjoyed it. There is a lot of sex and i love stories about musicians, so it worked well for me. I gave it a B+ :)

  7. Nice haul Nath! :P Can't wait for your thoughts on the Sarah Mayberry. LOL

  8. I really liked the Deadly series. I hope you enjoy it!

    I also downloaded Backstage Pass, but the formatting was awful! Like 1 word on a page. I need to see if it was just the nook app or if ti's actually that way on the device, too. If so, I'm afraid I'll have to pass on that one.

  9. Hey,
    Great books this week. I have the books in the Deadly series but I have only read the first one it was good just have to find time to read the other two.

    I finally found Kelley Armstrong's first YA series in my stacks so I am hoping to read them (well I've read the first just got to read the other two) before I read The Gathering.

    I read Backstage Pass last week it was good but maybe a bit too much for me.

    Still not sold on my new background I may change it again. I like things quite simple and uncluttered so I don't want to go to crazy.

    Have a good week.

  10. Alex - Hmmm, not sure when my review will be up... because I haven't cracked it open yet ^_^; I'm not really in the mood for YA or UF it seems... all I want is contemporary or historicals... and better not go against the mood, cos otherwise, my enjoyment of The Gathering will suffer ^_^; But as soon as I read it, I'll try to review :)

    Kris - Hey there! how have you been doing? Sorry, I've been a bad friend, not emailing you ^_^;

    Yeah, I expect a lot of sex in Backstage Pass based on the reviews :) We'll see how it works out for me :) Glad you enjoyed it!!

    Ames - Hopefully, I'll get to the review soon. I'm so behind!! Of course, I could just tell you in an email LOL. Did you buy it?

    Lori - For some reasons, it seems I'm even more picky when it comes to contemporary and RS ^_^; Overall, I did enjoy Deadly Lies... but I don't know, it wasn't a wowzer :(

    I think it's only the Nook version, Lori. Either when you downloaded it, it got corrupted, or the Nook has a bad version. I uploaded the Kobo version this morning just to be sure and all was fine :)

    Sally - LOL, you have so many books to read. I mean, I have it bad, but you seem to have it worst!

    Hope you enjoy the Armstrong's trilogy :) I really enjoyed it :) and you're lucky, you can read them all at once, no need to wait :)

    Yeah, that's what I'm afraid a little for Backstage Pass... Still, in the worst case, I'll skim over the sex scenes LOL.

    Well have fun playing with your templates :) It's so easy now with the new blogger :)

  11. I just started watching BBT this year so I'm still catching up a bit. It really brings out the geek in me. :)

    I got Backstage Pass and read it over the weekend. It's erotic so, yes, lots of sex. I feel like I should say that again - Lots Of Sex. LOL But - I love these guys! Love the uniqueness of each member.

    Lori - FYI on the nook version. Mine was fine on both nook & droid app. Could be like nath said and it was corrupted when downloaded.

  12. Free is always good :-) The Mayberry book may get added to my tbr at some point - though I already have a few of hers I haven't read yet.

  13. Leslie - LOL, it brings the geek out of everyone Leslie :) I really like it because I feel it's really current LOL. How are you liking it? And you're so lucky to be discovering it, because you're in for a treat, trust me :)

    LOL, hear you on Backstage Pass :)

    Dev - Indeed, free is always good :)

    Did you ever read Ms Mayberry? If not, I'd suggest to read her, just to see if you like her style ;)
