Hauling Sunday XLVII

All right, I promise, no more posts about work for a while! Especially with RWA looming ahead. For the next few weeks it's going to be about RWA, bloggers, NYC and of course, books! :)

For my trip to NYC... well I need to start packing, which means I need to make loads of laundry ^_^; However, my sister is done with school and has to study for her finals. That means she'll be home the whole week and perhaps I can dump that part on her. I've been meaning to weed my TBR pile and my bookshelves so I could bring books to people in NYC... but I haven't done that yet... and I'm not sure I'll have the time. Hmmm. On the good news front, I finally had a haircut :) Woohoo. I cut it to chin length, which I usually prefer... and I'm so glad!! Not only it's nicer, but also perfect for the heat we've been getting... Plus, I broke my gold chain earlier this week :( My mom has given me another one... and my hair kept getting tangled in it - ouch. Now, the hair doesn't reach the chain :)

Okay, need to hurry. I'm supposed to pick up my sister shortly from work :) Then, we're heading out to buy a new camera... Ours broke and a trip without a camera? That's a no-no!

So let see, here are the books I bought last week. There was a 20% off coupon and so, couldn't resist. However, I made sure that none of these authors were attending RWA :) Have to love stores with wi-fi!

Perfect Harmony by Nora Roberts - This is a reprint and contains the following titles: Unfinished Business and Local Hero. This year, I've been re-reading a lot of my NR books. I just enjoy her writing so much, so I figured I'd get this one. Lucky me, I haven't read either stories and I don't think I have them either in my other reprints of hers :)

What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen - I enjoy Ms Dessen's books, but ultimately, they're young adult books and sometimes, the ending is a bit too open for me... So I was going to wait for reviews and perhaps the paperback version of What Happened to Goodbye... but I did the mistake of skimming through it a little at the bookstore... and I had to have it. At least, I wait till I had a coupon :) The story really sounds good and I've enjoyed what I read!

The Ghost and the Goth by Stacey Kade - I met this author at RT last year. At that time, her book wasn't released yet, but it was heavily promoted... and the cover looked cute. I have to say though, what pushed me to get The Ghost and the Goth is its sequel, Queen of the Dead - another fun cover :P

More Than a Mistress and No Man's Mistress by Mary Balogh - I've been enjoying Ms Balogh's books... and her new release coming out next month, The Secret Mistress, is actually a sequel of these two books... so I decide to go ahead and read it. Plus, it's 2 books for the price of 1, right? Although I'm not sure I'm all that interested in No Man's Mistress...

And there you go, my new books for the week. I'm tempted to go to the bookstore today... but in less than a week, I'll be in the States... where books are cheaper. Hmmmm. LOL.

  1. I still need to fit What Happened to Goodbye into my reading schedule, lol. But it sounds good.

I loved the Ghost and the Goth and I'm currently reading Queen of the Dead (So far, I like book one best, but this one is pretty good too.)

I love the cover for the Balogh book. :D

  2. Alex - What other books do you have to read? LOL.

Well now I'm not totally sure I want to read Queen of Dead right away. I think I can actually wait till it comes out in paperback format...

I like Ms Balogh's covers as well :)

  3. When you think about going to the bookstore, do something to get ready for your trip instead. :)

  4. I love reading and re-reading Nora Roberts too. I just ordered Carnal Innocence as it's one I haven't read yet and they just made it into a movie.

I recently read What Happened to Goodbye - I liked it but it's not one of my favourites of hers. Hope you enjoy it though!

I have The Ghost and the Goth on my tbr pile somewhere I will have to dig it out.

    Happy reading.

  6. I really liked one of the mistress books, but really didn't like the other. If only I could recall which way round it was!

  7. Leslie - LOL, it's not that easy!! It's like, well if I don't have to get this book in the States, I can spend that money on something else, right? :P

Sally - Really? I wasn't aware of the movie. I haven't re-read Carnal Innocence in a while... perhaps I should.

I still haven't read What Happened to Goodbye, but what little I read, I liked so I'm crossing my fingers.

Hope you enjoy The Ghost and the Goth!

    Christine - Awwww, bad Blogger!

I can't wait either, Christine! How much did you cut your hair? I mean, for me? It could only look better ^_^; I had no style left, the hair looked like it was hanging... so...

Can't wait to see you either! Only a few days left!!

Marg - LOL. I liked the one with the Duke - the older brother. He's in a duel and got interrupted and ended up being shot... The heroine is hired as his nurse and then, becomes his mistress... I like that she was standing up to him!

The other book is the younger brother who won a house I think... and the heroine is an ex-courtesan... don't like those kind of stories, so didn't really read it.
