The Great Western Drive!!

First, I'd like to thank everyone for their encouragements about my ankle. It is much better and I can now walk with very little pain. Actually, it just feels a little stiff when I rotate it :) I was able to hobble on it and rush to the bookstore today under the rain :) Good sign, no? :P For those who are wondering, I did score at the bookstore!! Love it LOL.

Secondly, I missed the TBR challenge for the first time :( I wanted to review something, but it just didn't come. Also, I've been reading really slowly this month. I think it's the books, the Cal Leandros series. I'm really enjoying the series, but it takes me forever to read the books. Almost a week a book ^_^; That's just not normal!! Sigh, too bad. Maybe I'll try to do a two-fers next month. Anyway, I'll have to pick up my re-read very soon if I want to make it ^_^;

Finally, I'm a bit late to the party, but it doesn't matter because the posts will still be there right? Well, Kristie is at it again, and has started a new campaign. This time, it is not simply to recommend a new book, but to share and celebrate her love of Western romance books! She's enlisted the help of two other very popular bloggers, Wendy the Super Librarian and Sybil from The Good, The Bad and the Unread. Together, they have come up with...

THE GREAT WESTERN DRIVE!!

It's been a week-long campaign with many interesting posts about the genre and why they like it so much. In addition, there's tons of recommendations and a contest. So be sure to drop by all three blogs to discover or re-discover this genre. I think it's a great idea, because western romances are rarer and rarer nowadays, eclipsed by paranormal romances and urban fantasy books. Newcomers to romance books (actually even me) might not know where to start when it comes to this genre so this has been very, very helpful :) Also, when have these three bloggers steer us wrong? LOL.

Have fun!!

  2. Nath, I'm glad to hear your ankle is better. I barely went online for the last few days so I missed when you posted about it. I just didn't feel like being online much and I barely made the TBR Challenge this month.

I hope I get my act together for your challenge! :)

  3. Sorry about your ankle Nath!! But hey, it sounds like you had fun until you hurt it. I would so love to do zip lining. Have you read any of the Kathleen Kane books? They are western with paranormal. I know!

  4. So glad you're feeling better, Nath!

Hey, the Western Drive is working -- I'm dusting off a Justine Dare book I have and I'm definitely getting the new Jo Goodman. :) Love those westerns!

RE: Cal Leandros series -- Nath, I tell you, it took me a week to finish Nightlife and it has taken me a week to finish Moonshine (finishing today) -- NOT normal at all! -- so it's not YOU! I'm loving it though... :)

  5. Thanks for the shout-out Nathie! And glad to hear that ankle is better.

That was kind of the method to our madness with giving so many recommendations. We figured readers would like to have a place to "start."

  6. I looooove westerns.
Glad to her your ankle in one the mend.
Mine is as well. I started wearing heels again yesterday. I can feel a tiny little snap when I take a step in them so I don't think I should be back in heels again yet.
    Oh well. Beauty is pain.

  7. Like a bruised ankle would keep you from the bookstore. LOL Good to hear it’s almost all better. So, what did you score?

And yes, love for the westerns is all around. :) The great thing it is that westerns are my favorite sub-genre and there are still authors I haven't read, so I'm getting some books to add to the TBR pile. :)

  8. I've always loved westerns. Cowboys just know how to ride (did I just say that out loud?) Hope your ankle is better.

  9. Kristie - LOL, no problem :) I hope it helped!!

I'm not too sure about the TBR challenge anymore. Ah well, I guess if I make it, good ;) and if not...

LOL, hmmm, such a hard guess! :P

Taja - Hey Taja :) So what are you busying yourself with? Gaming? :P

    My ankle is all better :) So no worries... and at least, you made it for the TBR challenge... Hmmm, I'm thinking the turn out this month for the re-read challenge will be low ^_^;

Cindy - LOL, yes, I was having fun.

Nope, haven't read the Kathleen Kane yet. I should though, soon! :) Thanks for the reminder.

Hilcia - LOL, I'm the first one who will tell you that I don't like westerns all that much. But after this week, I think I should give them another chance :)

I'm really loving the series! I can't wait for the next book!!!

Wendy - My pleasure, Wendy :) and yes, readers definitively have a place to start. Hopefully, it'll bring back the genre for you guys!!

    Chantal - :) I miss you!!!

You're wearing heels again? LOL, don't know how you do it!! :) I'd rather be normal then LOL :P

Leslie - LOL, I know, I know... I would probably need to be on deathbed - that would stop me from going... although, I could always send someone for me LOL :P

Hmmm, you want to know? Hunting Ground by Patricia Briggs :P and earlier this week, I got Sea Glass by Maria V. Snyder.

Mary G - LOL, yes you did :)

  10. Nath, you're sadly only partly right. (Oh how I wish it was totally right!) I'm still very distracted by all the noise the workers make here in the building, I barely get my work done. It's cutting into my online time. :(

On a positive note, I've finished my book for your challenge! More positive: I still love it.

Now I just have to write my comment. *g*

  11. Hunting Ground - totally forgot that was coming out this month. I haven't totally warmed up to Charles and Anna(mostly Anna)yet.

Bran *sigh* I like Bran. Hope we get more of him. :)

  12. Taja - Ugh, all the noises must be very annoying. I don't know how you bear it ^_^; Hopefully, it'll be over soon, right? :)

Can't wait to see what is your re-read :D

Leslie - Yep, yep, Hunting Ground :D I actually love Anna and Charles :) They're really interesting :) and this one explains a bit more about the werewolf world :)
