Book Binge Contest and misc...

Good morning everybody :D

First thing first, at Holly's request, author Mary Margret Daughtridge has written a guest post about what she learned on SEALs while researching for her book, SEALed with a Kiss. So check it out! I can't wait to get my hands on SEALed with a Kiss, since Holly loved it sooo much (review here) :D

Also, get the chance to win a copy of this book :D All details here.

Second thing... anyone here has read C.E. Murphy's books? I've been thinking of starting the shaman series or perhaps the negotiator... but I need to know, is there a romance storyline? preferably no love triangle. Otherwise, any good fantasy series with a nice romance storyline in it?

Do anyone has week-end plans? I'm working whole day tomorrow at the Missionaries place, so I don't know... I'll probably be surfing the net... provided the connection is good. Gosh, I'm so hungry now LOL :)

Last thing is just ramblings... I came home yesterday and gas was 1.27$/liter... isn't that insane?!?!?!?!? Ugh. I'm starting to feel bad about driving around :(

  1. Hey nath,
I thought i had read a CE murphy book but then i looked at her back list and realized I had not. So maybe i will try her as well. Let me know what you think.
This weekend we are taking the girls to the fair.
Our gas is cheaper where I live, today I paid 3.33/gallon. I always feel cheated when i buy gas. i did not mind it after katrina and stuff because it was a disaster and stuff but now they are just greedy and want more money.

  2. I think Holly has sold me on the book too.

Gas prices suck, we hit $3.70 a gallon here today.

Working on Saturday, not fun. Did you read GRIMSPACE? I don't remember if you did or not. I just finished it and I liked it.

  3. I have read Murphy's shaman books and they are pretty good. No romance really but a kick ass heroine who has magic at her finger tips and likes to fix cars :)
In Jersey gas is at $3.05. We have the cheapest gas in the US because the gas tax is cheaper here.
I drive a Saturn so get pretty good mileage.

  4. I thought Murphy's Urban Shaman was pretty good but that her Heart of Stone a bit of a disappointment. (Maybe a B and a C- in our scale). I'm willing to give her another try but I'm not out looking for her books.

Sorry to hear about your eBook problems. (Did you see you got a big writeup over at

Is it tacky to suggest my own recent paranormal/urban fantasy A Really Bad Hair Day? Available from Amazon or in eBook form (with no DRM) at Fictionwise?

  5. Kris - Hey Kris... see the thing is I'm not sure I want to try a C.E. Murphy. I mean, if it's urban fantasy with no romance in it, then no, I don't think so ^_^;

Yeah, I don't understand why gas is soooo expensive. seriously. I mean, if you calculate then I'm paying about 5.00/gallon. that's just insane :( sigh. and I work far from where I live :(

Rosie - I know, she's good no? convincing ppl to buy books LOL :)

I have Grimspace, but have not read it yet. I'll give it a try soon :D

Katie - Hmmmm, no romance... If only I could borrow the books instead of buying them, that would be good... but thanks for letting me know :D

and lucky you about the gas.

Rob - Welcome to my blog, Rob :D and thanks for letting me know about the post :P I didn't know about it.

and no, it's not tacky to suggest your own book :D

  6. Have you tries Elizabeth Vaughn's Warprize? It's the first book in a fantasy trilogy with no love triangle. I just got the first book in the trilogy and so far it's good.

I know how bad triangles can be, I hate them and no longer read books with that angle.

I have not read CE Murphy but I do know that she has a new series coming out the end of this month. The first book is The Queen's Bastard. From what I understand there is no triangle, but there is a love connection of sorts. I think it will play out over the books in the series.

    Hope that helps.

  7. I am supposed to be getting the Queen's Bastard by CE Murphy this week from the library.

  8. Brie - I LOVE Warprize and actually, the whole trilogy!! Definitively let me know what you think of it!!

I can stand love triangle as long as it's resolved rapidly... The Plum books, ugh. The love triangle really killed it for me :(

Kris - Man, once again, I'm jealous of your library :P Let me know what you think of it :D

  9. Oooh - nasty on the gas prices!!! It's $1.17 here. Meanwhile we get to hear how the oil companies are raking in billions in profits. Billions!!

  10. Hey nath ~ If you want to email me your address, I'd be happy to send you the Jane Goodger book. I liked it, but I doubt I'd ever read it again and I know you were wanting to find it.

  11. Kristie - It's now 1.29$!!! Can I say - heart attack?!!? this is just insane. Sigh.

Dev - Thank you sooo much, Dev!!!
