Bruised ankle...

Hello everyone!!

How are you doing? Sorry I've been scarce in the last few days. I've been checking my Google Reader, but just didn't have time to do a proper blog-hop and leave comments. Last week was an extremely slow reading week for me. I think I've read 1.5 books ^_^; So I wanted to use the week-end to catch up... Of course, things never go as planned.

First, my uncle took a few days off last week and came to help my dad re-build the patio. They spent the whole time from Thursday to Saturday doing that... and I only have one word: Wow... because it was hot in the last few days... very hot and very humid. Then, my cousin came with her boyfriend as well... so we hung out a little bit, ate out. I have to say, I love having my uncle and cousin around. I don't have many relatives close, so it's nice to spend time with them. My uncle insists that we (my sister and me) go up to his house before the first snow. I think we will :) We had a nice ice cream outing where we ordered soft ice cream. After receiving his, my uncle kept saying, "I think they made a mistake, Nath. This must be a jumbo size, not medium!" LOL, he's just so cute and so nice.

On Saturday morning, I woke up around 7am and on my way to the bathroom, my mom intercepted me. She told me that the gas BBQ was broken, so could I start the charcoal BBQ so she could prepare some food - we were having guests in the evening. I was like: "Now?!?" and she said, "Well maybe a little later." Sigh. LOL. That's not how I planned to spend my morning!! In the past few years, we had a charcoal chimney starter to start the charcoal BBQ... but the starter belongs to my friend. I tried looking online to see if I could buy it anywhere closeby, but no... So I had to start it on my own ^_^; In the past, whenever we tried just starting the charcoal BBQ in a regular way... well it took forever. Perhaps it was lack of experience ^_^; Anyway, I got off easy this time, LOL, took me about 20-30 minutes. Yay! Though I was lucky there was a good wind, cos otherwise, I'd be sitting there fanning my little pyramid of charcoal. Anyway, spent about an hour to two BBQ-ing, under the sun. It was really humid, about 30C with a very bright sun. So can you imagine what it was near the BBQ?

On Sunday, I had an outing with some friends. We were going to go to the mountain and do a forest adventure - Acro-Nature. You know, where you climb into trees and go from one another with the help of bridges, cables and ziplines. There were a total of 58 stations divided in 4 zones. We were three... So we start the thing and it was fun :) A bit hard for some, but I was okay. Then, at the first zipline (station 10-11), one of my friends got stuck. She braked too early and then, didn't have any more strength in her arms to pull herself. Oups. We waited till she was "saved" and she decided that was it for her. She'd follow us on the ground. A couple of ziplines later (station 17), I put my feet down too early and hit my right ankle on some log... and that was it for me, out of commission ^_^; It didn't swell too much, it didn't even hurt that much, unless I put weight on it and that's on the heel. No problem at all with the upper half of my foot. I could still drive and hobble and we still went out to eat.

So yesterday, I spent a couple of hours at a clinic and then, at an x-ray clinic. Diagnostic: my ankle is only bruised. Yay!! Ah well, that gave me time to read Edge of Dawn by Patti O'Shea :)

Loosing battles...

Okay, it seems I have little control over myself and so everything ends up being a loosing battle... sigh. At the moment, I'm trying not to go downtown and buy books. 1) To save gas and 2) to save money as the sale 4 for 3 starts this Thursday. I mean, I should be able to wait till Thursday right? That's what, 3 days away... I'll let you know if I succomb or not... ^_^; At the moment, the book I want is Catch of the Day by Kristan Higgins. Basically, I read Fools Rush In yesterday and I really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to read something else by the author.

I was able to read 3 books this week-end (yay!): Moon Called by Patricia Briggs, Just Desserts by Barbara Bretton and Fools Rush In by Kristan Higgins :P Reviews coming for all of them :P

So how was your week-end? I managed to clean another part of my room... so now, all the books and stuff are really in the middle of my room, like a little mountain. That's also another loosing battle, cleaning my room. My sister offered her help on Saturday night and I refused... then when I asked if the offer was still valid on Sunday, she said no. LOL :P And that's pretty much what I did this week-end. Clean my room, go to work on Saturday evening and read all of Sunday. Very nice week-end, unfortunately, I'm a bid tired today... which mean I won't be going to the gym.

So far, I've been able to go to the gym about 2x/week and each time, I exercise for at least 45 minutes. I'm trying to go more often, but stuff always comes up... or perhaps I'm making excuses?
By the way, I know this is a long shot, but I thought it was worth giving a try. I've read a blurb recently of a book that's coming out this summer about demon or something slayers... and it sounded funny. Anyone knows of this book? I know, that's very little information... but that's all I remember ^_^; I probably jotted down the title and author somewhere, but can't find the paper anymore...

This and that...

I'm tired... in a good way though, I guess. The last few days have been busy. Like I told everyone, I signed up to the gym on Monday... and I had my first session on Tuesday. Yay - not. I worked out for 40 minutes and it was painful - not just because I'm out of shape (which is really sad), but also because it's soooo boring! I had music with me (thanks heaven) and was watching tennis at the same time, but still... I had too much time to think with my brain and all I could do is wish that time would go faster. I'm definitively bringing a book today when I go... and oh, I spent most of my time biking... so but bottom hurts. Seriously, those bike seats are really uncomfortable!

One thing that annoys me is coming out of the parking lot, which is incline, I heard a huge scratching sound :( I scratched the whole bottom on the left side of the front of my car :( Yeah, definitively not happy :( I have to say though, Honda carrosserie sucks. It's soo easy to scratch the car... so it's been bugging me :(

I also got my annual letter from the I-Rewards membership - that's the membership of the bookstore Chapters/Indigo/Coles that allows me to save 10% of all the books I buy in-store and 5% online. It's time that I renew the membership and on the letter, it tells you how much you've saved for the year...

340.71$

Yay!! I saved 10$ more than last year... which when you think about it is a bit frightening. Especially since the books price has gone down significantly ever since the Canadian dollar is doing so well. So I must have bought even more books ^_^; !

Oh and fellow Canadian book lovers, Chapters/Indigo/Coles are having double discount days on this week-end (May 31 & June 1st)! I guess it means that you save 20% instead of 10% if you're a member. By the way, English mangas are already on-sale at 20% off (+10% if you're a member... don't know if it's going to be 20% though this week-end... hmmm)... and finally, starting from June 13 for two weeks, it's the buy 3 books and get the 4th free sale!

Yesterday, I went out with friends. Two of them are graduating!! That's very good news :) I wore a skirt and a very nice top. Very feminine. Actually, my friend, KK, has been complaining, LOL :) See, I ask her to go shop with me and choose more feminine/grown-up clothes for me... and she has a good taste... but then, I never wear what she choose. For me, skirts and nice tops are for nice occasions, not simply going to work or going out. Plus, the temperature has been a bit chilly and it's been windy... so KK has been complaining that I never wear the clothes that I bought with her. So yesterday, I wore the skirt, the nice top and the sandals. It was quite funny, because she actually chose everything I was wearing yesterday - the top, the skirt, the sandals and she's the one who bought me the purse for my b-day, LOL :) I'll post a pic up when they'll send me the pictures... Though you guys have seen pictures of me at Holly's wedding, so it's not so special now :P

Ah... I think I forgot my cellphone at the restaurant yesterday. Ugh. I can't find it :( Or perhaps, it's in KK's jacket... I hope I haven't lost it yet, but it's too early at the moment to call either of them (KK or the restaurant)... but yeah, that's one problem I don't need at the moment :(

Oh by the way, anyone interested to do some buddy reviews with me? Lately, I've read The Lost Duke of Wyndham by Julia Quinn, The Waitress by Melissa Nathan, Finding Mary Blaine by Jodi Thomas and the Bridgerton series by Julia Quinn.

Second Chances...

Do you believe in 2nd chances? I guess I do because guess where I'm going tonight?

...

...

The LIBRARY!!!

Yep, I'm going to the library tonight. It's been what, a year since I last went... perhaps a bit longer? You've all heard me complain about the libraries in Quebec... and most of what I say is true. However, the good thing of this library is that they have some oldies that are hard to find and buy. So I'll be taking a chance tonight. I'm going to renew my card and see if their romance sections have improved. I've already used the online catalogue this morning and I have to say, I was a bit impressed... but at the same time, not.

I know that many of you have awesome libraries. I know that Ames and Kris do. Ames live in Canada and Kris, in the States... So let's play a game.... People, what are romance books that I should absolutely find in my library in order to say that they have a good romance section?

So far, I can tell you this:

Library has...

Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling series, book 1 to 3 - that was a wowzer! I never expected them to have this series... However, there is no mention of Mine to Possess anywhere.
True Confessions by Rachel Gibson
Once in Every Life by Kristin Hannah

It doesn't have...

Any books by Lisa Kleypas except Mine till Midnight and Sugar Daddy
Meljean Brook, Maria V. Snyder, Colleen Gleason books

On order...

Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunters series. So far, they only have Devil May Cry if I'm not wrong, which was the lastest.

Okay, keep in mind, the library was opened in January 2005. So it's been 3 years. It took 3 years for the library to start stocking up on the romance section... and what you'll find is mostly "new" releases, but not even the "hot" ones. Good or bad? Was I right to be disappointed in my library last year?
