So Monday, I asked if anyone here was watching Heroes and they thought about it... and if I remember correctly, only Cindy and Rosie said they watched the show. The good news was that both enjoyed the show :D The majority of you said that you haven't watched the show, but heard good things about it... which was another plus. Nobody seemed to have heard any negative about this series... and this is rare :D
So you guys want to know what happened next?
LOL, I download a couple of episodes on Monday evening and the next day, decided to go buy the boxset LOL :) So I am now the proud owner of Heroes on DVD and have managed to watch the whole season in two evenings. Yes, I did fast-forward and skip some parts - but that was so I could go to sleep ^^; I'm now re-watching the whole thing to see what I miss, but seriously, I really enjoyed this tv series :D
So here are my thoughts:
- I really enjoy the tv series and you have to give credit to the whole cast, directors and producers. As the guy who came up with the idea said, superheroes have been done and overdone, but they still manage to create something great and compelling.
- the fact that all these people have powers remind me a bit of X-men, but that's to be expected. What i wonder about is that they all seem to have recently acquire their powers and no one knows when and what and understand them.
- there are a lot of characters and storylines going on at once and so it's a bit confusing, but that doesn't matter :D This series is very compelling... there's a lot of twists and turns and you keep wondering is this person good, bad, both? What I like is that it's not entirely black or white, but there's many shades of grey :D
- I have to admit that I think the cast is perfect. Everyone fits their role and they act very well :D my favorite character is probably Hiro Nakamura :D He's so cute and funny and full of optimism :D I understand why the actor was nominated at the golden globes and emmy.
The one thing that I disliked was the lack of friendship/camaraderie. The pacing of this series is very fast, one thing happens after the other. Each character or group of characters have a goal that they are pursuing and as a result, characters only cross each other. I mean, how many times did Hiro and Peter meet each other? not more than 5 I think... What I'm trying to say is that the characters don't have time to get to know each other, sit down and develop a frienship... and I understand why and everything, but this is something I'd like to see in the next season.
So yeah, Heroes will probably be my obsession for the next few weeks :D Especially with the new season starting on Monday :D however, that doesn't stop me from reading :D

Quiet week-end and books!
Hello everyone :D
wow, this week-end was really quiet... Summer is over, fall is here... it's been quite chilly these last few days :( Sunny, but cool.
I've pretty much did nothing this week-end. Chalk it to exhaustion and laziness. I had plans to re-shelve my books... actually, I've had this plans for weeks... but it didn't happen :( Sigh. I've been trying to convince a friend to come over and help me... but smart girl, she refused. I went shopping with some friends on Sunday... bought a tank top. Got 50% off on the tank top... which was already on sale at 1.95$ LOL :) Yeah, I saved bunch!
This week-end was a rather good reading week-end. I read Dead Girls are Easy by Terri Garey, It's In His Kiss by Julia Quinn and The Wedding Party by Robyn Carr. All the books were okay read, nothing wow :( I went to the bookstore this week-end and there was nothing to buy... see I've pre-ordered most of the books I wanted for September and there wasn't many coming out to begin with... So today, I skipped lunch and went to the UBS... I bought 16 books... the ones that made me think "lucky me" were Family Tree by Barbara Delinski and Castle of the Wolf by Sandra Schwab... The rest were books that sounded interesting... and lucky me, the UBS were still holding the buy 3 get the 4th free sale.
Later, when my mom came home, she brought in 3 Chapters/Indigo online packages! That really made my day! So what books did I get? Caressed by Ice by Nalini Singh and Die For Me by Karen Rose. These two books, I ordered back in August, but somehow, it seems my order was lost somewhere... I ended up buying them at the bookstore. Seriously, do you think I would have waited 2 weeks before I could read CBY? No way... I already promised CBY to a friend, but if anyone wants my 2nd copy of Die For Me, feel free :D I also got Agnes and the Hitman by Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer... Finally!!! and Magic Study by Maria V. Snyder... I want the tradepaper format... I figure it'd be an investment :) and finally, tadada, Empire of Ivory by Naomi Novik!!! This is the 4th book in the series and I'm a bit anxious about reading it... I'm afraid I've been building up too much expectations... Sigh.
Last but not least, I've become kind of obssessd with Heroes, the tv show... Anyone has watched this? What's your opinion? I had friends who enjoyed it a lot and since I'm bored, I thought of watching it... but I'm not sure yet and so, I don't want to spend money buying the dvds yet...

Vintage Kay Hooper
So by this time, most of you know that I'm a huge fan of Kay Hooper. I've discovered Ms Hooper through her FBI SCU series, which are paranormal romantic suspense books. However, long, long ago, Ms Hooper wrote straight romance for Loveswept. To my greatest pleasure, many of them are being re-printed by Bantam Books (cos really, they are really hard to find... also, I bet the covers are much niver now LOL).
So this summer, she had Something Different, Pepper's Way (both are part of a tradepaper back compilation) and C.J.'s Fate re-released. She has another coming out in December called The Haunting of Josie :P
So here we go:
Something Different

Pepper's Way

C.J.'s Fate

Just in case you are wondering, these are all 80's books in addition for being Loveswept... don't expect too much sex in them LOL :P

Restless and imaginative, mystery writer Gypsy Taylor was used to following her muse. Her nomadic lifestyle was perfectly suited for her creative work but not for lasting relationships. That left her new next-door neighbor Chase Mitchell only four months to change Gypsy's life before she moved on forever. The handsome architect wants to build a life for both of them, but first he'll have to solve the passionate mystery of this one-of-a-kind woman — a mystery not even Gypsy herself can unravel. My thoughts: I enjoyed this book :D Ms Hooper has always been able to infuse something special in her characters, either habits or personality or the character in general. In addition, I've always liked the "gypsy/new age heroine thaws out straight and stuffy hero" LOL :P There is a little conflict, but it's basically the story of two people getting to know each other. Sounds boring, but it is not... you easily get sucked in the story and next thing you know, you're finished.
Grade: B
Pepper's Way
first published in 1984
Tall, fit, and with a large house on considerable acreage, Thor Spicer was exactly the man Pepper had been looking for when she placed her ad — for a dog sitter. But it's Pepper herself, Thor senses, who really needs his attention. For beneath her globe-trotting, adventure-seeking lifestyle, Pepper is running. And for the first time in a long while, she realizes that it just might be possible to stop and face what she fears the most — losing her heart to the kind of man she'd risk everything to loveMy thoughts: Hmmm, I was more reluctant to read this book; however, I also really enjoyed it! LOL :P You all have a friend that's special and stands out more than others... she's multi-talented and people seems to gravitate around that person... at least, I have a friend like that... and Pepper is that way. I liked her character though, as well as Thor :D Again, it's the story of two persons falling in love and getting to know each other, but I think I was as intrigued as Thor by Pepper... which by the way, is not her name, but a nickname... her name is Perdita Elizabeth Patricia Elaine Reynolds... LOL! Who doesn't want to know her story with such a name? By the way, the conflict between the two made sense and was understandable. Anyway, I liked it :P
Grade: B
C.J.'s Fate
first published in 1984
Librarian C. J. Adams thinks marriage is a fine tradition—for somebody else. The love of her life is history, and in her experience, few men compare with the daring heroes who shaped civilization. Well-traveled, well-educated, and content to stay single, C.J. is convinced she isn't missing anything. But her close friends disagree. When they resolve to find her soul mate during a trip to Aspen, C.J. stays a step ahead of them by enlisting a gorgeous stranger to pose as her lover. But the man proves to be far more charismatic—and convincing—than she expected, and C.J. soon discovers a side of herself she didn't know existed. She never imagined that the Rockies had more in store for her than a skiing trip with friends, but whether she likes it or not, C.J.'s fate is about to be sealed. My thoughts: Out of the three, I thought this one was the weakest. I liked the beginning very much however... C.J. is up in Aspen with 5 friends whom have known each other for about 20 years... C.J. is the least sophisticated of all, as in she doesn't really care about her appearance, and her friends are a bit desperate... now that they're all married, they wish for C.J. to find happiness as well. To avoid any matchmaking, C.J. walks up to Fate Weston, a total stranger, and "acts" as a couple... Fate goes along and together, they act as a couple in love. My problem is that Fate went along way too easily... actually, no, my problem is that he fell in love and decided he was going to marry her immediately. This book however is a great show of friendship and seriously, I wished I had friends like C.J.'s. Anyway, other complaints are 1) there was a definite 80's feel to this book, not that it's bad, but... I don't know... 2) the writing style is very flowy, and Ms Hooper goes over a lot of things without exploring them and 3) I wish Ms Hooper would have explored the friends a bit more, but I guess she didn't have space.... by the way, Fate's attempts to guess what C.J. stood for were funny :D
Grade: B-

My past week...
hey everyone :D
sorry to have been a little bit absent... the last few weeks have been very stressful... last week was a bit better, but not by much. I finally got my car back on Friday! Yay! It looks good :D they did a good work. I was starting to stress a lot about the car for 1) the cheque... but the garage didn't ask for it at all when I went to pick up the car, so I guess they received it. Also, my parents kept asking about my car... so I had to call the garage and each time, they would tell me, "your car is almost ready... Tomorrow, tomorrow..." It took a freaking month! My parents were worried that they were trying to keep the car longer, so it'd increased the rental fees... however, I'm not the one who paid for the rental... so I didn't care much.
Other reason why I was stressed is my work contract. My work contract expired two weeks ago, on August 31. At the beginning of the summer, I was told that my contract would be renewed for one year... which is great, cos that means a real contract and not one for student... with better salary and some advantages (like vacation)... I was also told that I would be signing the contract when my supervisor would come back from vacation... which was on August 9. Because of that, I purposedly didn't go to Cancun with my family. Well time flew, my contract expired and I still haven't signed my contract... two weeks ago, my supervisor said: this friday... (the friday b4 labor day week-end)... so on that friday, as the day passed, I asked him... and my supervisor came back to me: Oh, sorry, I misunderstood. it's not this friday, but next one... hmmm, okay. So next Friday comes and supervisor asks to see us (me and another girl)...: I have a good news and a bad news. Good news is I have a contract for you to sign... the bad news is that, it's only a 2 months extension... By the way, my supervisor sucks and is incompetent... the contract is till October 19, 2007. Sorry, but that's not even 2 months! Apparently, board of directors want to do a head count... so not sure if they'll be able to hire me after October 19... so yeah, it pretty much sucks and that means I definitively have to start looking for a job.
On one hand, it really really sucks. On the other hand, i'm kind of relieved... I've been so stressed in the past month... also, I don't really like the atmosphere in this company. The reasons I was going to stay were: 1) well it's easy ^^; (I'm pretty lazy and unmotivated... which is soooo sad). 2) the money... and 3) for the experience... I know this company is not somewhere I want to stay... cos seriously, the atmosphere sucks and the supervisor, even more. Also, I think it'd be better for me to re-orientate myself... my dad wants me to go back to school, but I'm seriously tired. I soooo need a vacation and so I'm kind of looking forward it ^^; Although I know that my parents will be worried and stuff like that ( i mean, it won't really be peaceful...) Sigh. So yeah, I'm not really getting my hopes high for the job, because this company's politics and management is really weird ^^; So even if they really need me and the other girl, there's high chances they're too pigheads to admit it. Did I mention they were cheap too?
Also, i have this freaking book order for Magic Study, Caressed by Ice, Die for Me and Agnes and the Hitman. I ordered these books on August 13 and should have received all the books last week... but no, they still haven't been shipped yet!!! ugh!! So far, I've already went in store to buy Caressed by Ice and Die for me... but I wished they would ship the books fast! I already written a email asking about my order... they say they were checking it... seriously, grrr.
Hmmm, so yeah... been a stressful week... Add to that the US Open :P Yay, Justine Henin won!!! i,m soo happy, because she beat some really tough players and she really proved that she was no.1. In addition, this is her first Grand chelem tournament that she wins in 4 years other than Roland-Garros where she is queen. So yay!! I was soo nervous for the matches, because she played Serena and Venus Williams. Two players against whom she had bad records... I wonder how the players do it LOL :P
So yeah, sorry for the rant... but I had to get it out :P tomorrow, something more fun LOL I promise, I'll write some reviews :P I'm going to try Ames' lightening review style LOL :P

August Reads
It's a bit late, considering that the first week of September is almost over, but since I didn't know what to blog about, I decided to share my August reads with everyone :D
August started out as a good month and then, my reading mojo kind of disappeared with the accident. Luckily, it picked right up near the end of the month.
1) In The Midnight Hour by Patti O'Shea: B
(although I enjoyed it, I was a bit disappointed... I guess I anticipated this book so much, because Ms. O'Shea is one of my favorite author... This seems to be happening a lot to me lately)
2) Devil May Cry by Sherrilyn Kenyon: A-
3) Tangled up in You by Rachel Gibson: B
4) Dakota Born by Debbie Macomber: C
5) Dead Shot by Annie Solomon: C-
6) The STone Flower Garden by Deborah Smith: C+
7) If Only in my Dreams by Wendy Markham: C
8) Falling Upwards by Kassandra Sims: DNF
9) Hot Wheels and High Heels by Jane Graves: C-
10) His Every Kiss by Laura Lee Guhrke: B
11) Coming Undone by Susan Andersen: B+
12) Missing by Jasmine Cresswell: C
13) The Pleasure Trap by Elizabeth Thornton: B-
14) C.J.'s Fate by Kay Hooper: B
Yeah, looking back, there wasn't many great reads either. It's so funny though... number-wise, it goes: reviews << books read<< books bought ^^;
I'd say my best reads of the month were definitively Devil May Cry by Sherrilyn Kenyon. 2 books that I enjoyed though, C.J.'s Fate and In the Midnight Hour....
ah well, I'm going back to work now... I don't want to, but I have no choice :( I'll try to squeeze in a review tonight... See, the past few nights, I've been busy watching tennis... I hope Justine Henin beats Venus Williams tomorrow... Oh, and I'm getting back my car today!

Review: Caressed by Ice by Nalini Singh
SQUEEEEEE!!!
I got Caressed by Ice! Even better, I read Caressed by Ice!!! and guess what?!? I should be receiving my second copy of Caressed by Ice soon! LOL, yeah ^^; I pre-ordered Caressed by Ice, but couldn't wait to get my hands on it, so I rushed to the bookstore as soon as one of them had it.
Caressed by Ice by Nalini Singh
published by Berkley Sensation in September 2007
Genre: paranormal romance, psychics and shapeshifters
Series: Psy/changelings series, Book #3
Why did I get this book? If you don't know the answer, you haven't been around blogland for the past year. This series is really good! That's the reason!
My impressions? This book was good! I completely loved it! After Visions of Heat, which was a bit disappointing, I wasn't sure what to expect. Was this series continues to tank or... Well I'll never doubt again and I can't wait for the next book!!! All in all, Ms Singh did an awesome job... I really liked the hero, Jude, as well as the story :D What I like is that Ms Singh doesn't overdo it like some other authors. She also doesn't prepare the readers for her next book, plugging her next hero/heroine/couple and giving them the spotlight. What I find awesome as well is that the main storyline, the war btw Psy and changelings, is also advancing throughout the books.
The Hero, the Heroine and the Romance: We met the heroine for the first time in Slave to Sensation: Brenna Shane Kincaid. She's a wolf who was kidnapped and then tortured by Enrique Santano, a Psy Councilor. She has healed, but obviously, something in her or actually, in her mind has changed... and it's not just the trauma. Seriously, Brenna left me a bit indifferent. She wasn't annoying or TSTL or anything, it's just... I don't know... I was too invested in Judd to really care about her :P Also, I thought that she was Hawke's little sister, but I was wrong :P
Judd was an awesome hero though :P Although Psy are not supposed to feel emotions, Judd is really his own person. For some reason, I've been given the impressions that Psy actually can,t think, that they are puppets which is not the case at all. However, Judd is really his own person and he although he doesn't admit it, he can "feel." I also really admire his loyalty for his family. That is something I really enjoyed... It was also interesting to see the Psy prospective from the opposite gender, since so far, the only Psy we've been with are Sascha and Faith, both women. Also, because of his status, an Arrow soldier, I think that Judd knew more about the real truths of the Psy world than Sascha and Faith... Obviously, he was less naive and knew what he had to do to get out of the Silence's clutches.
I enjoyed the romance. I really did. I thought there was a great balance between the romance and the action. I also liked the progression... it didn't happen too fast and they didn't jump in bed immediately either. I'm sure that many will enjoyt his book and the romance :P
Secondary characters: They were a lot of secondary characters, but none that really had its own storyline. In this book, we get to know more about the Snow Dancer pack. I liked seeing more of Hawke and the Lauren family. One intriguing character right now, for me, is Indigo :D We also get to see the Dark River cats as well as Sascha and Faith. However, as I said, none of the secondary characters stole the spotlight from Judd and Brenna and I really appreciated that :D
The Story: The story was really interesting and I enjoyed it :D We know from the previous book, that there is some kind of rebellion going on or at least, in the process of being organized. So we are introduced to the Ghost, a rogue Psy but also, revolutionary. Judd is helping him with his attacks and their main goal is to destroy Protocol I which is the next step to Silence. It all sounds complicated, but when you read the book, it's really the logical next step. In addition, you still have the Psy and changelings fighting and all I have to say is that the changelings are lucky to have a Psy on their side :D The fighting between the Psy and changelings is really interesting and I can't wait to see what the next move is going to be.
What I liked: Judd, the plot, the romance. I enjoyed the interaction of Judd with the pack as well as with his family. I'm also curious about Kaleb... and I'm wondering who is the Ghost!!!
What I didn't like: Frankly, nothing. The only thing perhaps is that I would have liked more interaction btw Judd and his family. I'm really curious about the Lauren family...
Grade: A-. I think that everyone should read this book LOL :P and I really can't wait for the next book. Sigh, have to wait till February...
Some speculation... Does anyone think like me that Hawke's heroine is Sienna Lauren? The only problem I see is their age difference... Hawke is 32 y.o. and Sienna is 17 y.o. So 15 years... it's not that huge, but still considerable. I really would like these two to be a couple, but I guess that if they were really mates, Hawke would have already recognized Sienna. I'm thinking that the other option is Kit and Sienna instead. Much closer in age and seriously, I think only an alpha can handle Sienna, LOL :P

As an Arrow, an elite soldier in the Psy Council ranks, Judd Lauren was forced to do terrible things in the name of his people. Now a defector, his dark abilities have made him the most deadly of assassins—cold, pitiless, unfeeling. Until he meets Brenna.
Brenna Shane Kincaid was an innocent before she was abducted—and had her mind violated—by a serial killer. Her sense of evil runs so deep, she fears she could become a killer herself. Then the first dead body is found, victim of a familiar madness. Judd is her only hope, yet her sensual changeling side rebels against the inhuman chill of his personality, even as desire explodes between them. Shocking and raw, their passion is a danger that threatens not only their hearts, but their very lives.

Catching up on meme
Hey everyone!
sorry for the last of posts... I've been lazy. Work has been exhausting and really, really annoying. My experiments haven't work, the atmosphere sucks, there's been a lot of tension between my co-workers and so on... so it hasn't been fun and has basically drained all my energy :(
So finally a long week-end and all I've been doing is sleep and read and watch tennis. Today, I've gathered some energy and cleaned my room. It's not all done, but at least, better than it was. Anyway, let's not talk about depressing stuff :D Instead, let's start about books :D but first, I own some ppl a couple of meme :D
I can't remember who tagged me, but I was tagged ^^;.
1. Total number of books I own: hmmm, I haven't kept tracked of the number of books I own ^^; I'd say between 750 - 1000 books. However, this number doesn take in account my manga. If I do, I'd probably have to add another 500 ^^; To tell the truth however, I'm not sure I want to know exactly how many books I own LOL
2. Last Book I bought: Hmm, the last books I bought were Caressed by Ice by Nalini Singh, Unforgettable by Julie Ortolon, Clan Daughter and King's Property by Morgan Howell. That was on Friday... again, if you count manga though, those, I bought on Saturday: Hanakimi vol. 15, Eyeshield 21 vol. 14, Yami no Matsuei vol. 8 and Yakitate Japan! vol. 11
3. Last Book I read: Fangs for Memories by Kathy Love.
4. Five books that mean a lot to me: Seriously, this is really hard!! What if I say none? I mean, sure, I have favorites and books that I dislike... but books that mean a lot for me?
- Until You by Judith McNaught: my first English romance
- Homeport by Nora Roberts
- Out of the Dark by Sharon Sala
- Strange Bedpersons by Jennifer Crusie
- in Death books by J.D. Robbs
5. Tag five people: LOL, this is hard :) but the three gals at Book Binge, as well as Chantal and Kris
This one, I was tagged by Holly and I know that Rosie did it, so I included her tips:
